Project: BIOMEDIC ATTRACTION AND ELECTROCUTION OF MOSQUITOES

Achievements: Filed an Indian Patent, Starting an Entrepreneurial Venture, Tested the product with DRDE, Won awards for the Business Plan at IIT-M

IEEE has been instrumental is providing us funding to bring this prototype into a reality. We were able to visually show what we had been talking conceptually until then. We were able to use the funding from the IEEEhtn for registering the company and signing in the Partnership deed between us as well. In constructing the Bplan, we were able to get valuable input from our Mentor for the AYIEHUM Event and he also assisted us in framing the Financial plan as well. We would like to thank IEEE for organizing such an event AYIEHUM and also helping us to bringing this up as an venture as well.

We have been working on this product from our first year of Engineering working on various formulations to get the different species of mosquitoes attracted and hit upon the right combination of salts and enzymes with the help of the Chemistry Department of our College. We presented this as a product in various events and won in each one of them. Major one among them being the AIMO TNSB State Innovation Award from the Governor of Tamil Nadu – Shri. Surjit Singh Barnala.

We started to work on the business plan for this product and our B-Plan also was the top among the Business plans presented in Breakthrough event of C-Tides section of IIT-M. We then worked on our financial statement and our expenditure requirements and are ready with the quotations of the parts as well.

The outreach to the people about our product has been provided already by the various newspaper articles which has published our work and have promised that this product will hit the market soon. We even have received many phone calls from the public for the quick release of the product.

We have also evaluated our product at DRDE (Defence Research and Development Establishment), Gwalior and they have approved that our product is capable of attracting and killing mosquitoes and have certified the same. We worked under the guidance of Dr.Sukumaran, Scientist ‘E’ – Entomology Division of DRDE, Gwalior.

We have achieved so much success this far. We are waiting for a proper source to fund our product to release it into the present day market for the use of the general public who require such a product so dearly!

Feedback on IEEE Karnataka Young Engineers’ Humanitarian Challenge 2009:

Project: Electronic Blind Mobility Aid

This was a very supportive and encouraging program. This encouraged innovative ideas from upcoming students by providing good funding. It helped to nurture the new ideas by students. It mainly bridged the gap between students and IEEE. The funding is a main requirement for a project to be done and this program helped in funding the students according to their project requirement. Such programs provide new experience to students and good exposure. This program was very well-organized. It was a very good and unforgettable experience
Thanks a lot!!!!!
